Change your life: mantras for meditation

There generally aren’t that many people on the planet who would describe their life as totally perfect. Most of us have very clear ideas about areas of our lives that we would like to dramatically improve – which we can easily verbalize, but are usually very quick to caveat with a humble-sounding qualification.  For example, many of us would really like to improve our income, if possible. The qualifier – the ubiquitous little “if possible” phrase that lets us get away with hedging our bets and settling for sameness and underachievement – is the biggest reason why most of us aren’t busy creating our ideal existence. We don’t have the confidence to pursue our big life goals with complete commitment.

There is an abundance of high-quality advice discussing how to gain healthy self confidence. In fact, each of the self-improvement books and programs I’ve read over the years has used self confidence as a central theme to successful living.

Guided imagery meditation is one of the easiest and most effective ways to make that confidence advice work for you. It does us no good to become aware of the need for healthy, confident, uplifting inner dialogue if we never actually get around to changing the voice that’s always prattling on inside our minds. For most of us, that inner voice works in direct opposition to our goals, undermining our efforts with perpetual negativity, self-doubt, and irrational fear.

Happily, it’s fairly easy to replace your negative self-talk over time through positive mantras for meditation. Far from some strange religious practice, mantras are simply positive messages that we internalize through repetition. We’re always thinking about something anyway, which psychologists have demonstrated to be more than 98% repetitive.  So if we’re already repeating things inside our minds, why not make those repetitive thoughts work for us instead of against us? The small, everyday messages we tell ourselves over time invariably shape the fabric of our entire lives. Using  positive mantras can dramatically change your life for better.
