Perfume Review: Infusion d’Homme by Prada For Men

Infusion d’Homme by Prada was launched in 2008 as second perfume of the series “Infusion d’”, where after the apostrophe there would normally be the name of a flower or a main ingredient, but in this case there is the word “man.” Prada’s idea behind the fragrance was to create an subtle and honest aroma at the same time, like a second skin, not made to conceal the personality but to reveal it. The main notes on the packaging are: neroli, iris, cedar, vetiver, incense and benjui.
Like the feminine counterpart Infusion d’Iris, the fragrance starts with a quite recognisable iris note, balanced by another secondary layer which seems to be fresh amber. In the middle phase, iris quickly lowers intensity, becoming more powdery, leaving amber to dominate in the foreground, and with bergamot also more intense with tones of mandarin. With time, amber tends towards resin, with an overall fresh feeling, and after two hours is still dominant, aggregating a light spicy tone of ginger (the softness of this spicy later reminds of One Million perfume by Paco Rabanne), and broadening the spectrum of resins, but still fresh rather than incensed. After six hours, amber is still the main note, now sweeter, with also ginger and dry grapefruit.
In spite of its classic notes, the fragrance stands out for the striking note of amber. It is indeed a very unsophisticated perfume, perfectly in line with the style of Prada (which can be found in other fragrances of the fashion house like Prada pour homme),, yet still easy to remember. It is a perfume for the summer, to be used everyday especially in the office, where it will feel professional and clean. For a night use, it will be at ease in not too overcrowded environment, and for a romantic use it will attract by drawing curiosity.
